Second Trip Itinerary

Thursday, May 26: Fly out of Sac Int'l at 6:00 a.m. and arrive at LAX at 7:24 a.m.  Then fly out of LAX at 9:45 a.m. for our 15 hour and 55 minute flight to Dubai.  Arrive in Dubai at 12:40 p.m. on Friday, May 27th.

Please pray for safe flights and against anxiety attacks.  Please pray that there are no issues with our luggage weights and that everything makes it safely to Addis.

Friday, May 27: We have half a day and are hoping to do some sightseeing in Dubai.  Please pray for our safety!

Saturday, May 28: Fly out of Dubai at 8:25 a.m. and arrive in Addis at 11:30 a.m.  After we check into the Jemimah, our plan is to do some sightseeing in Addis with our new friend/driver Daniel.

Please pray for safe flights, a smooth process with getting our visas, luggage, going through immigration, etc. once on the ground in Addis, and safe travels in the city.

Sunday, May 29: Our plan is to go to church with Daniel this morning, and then do more sightseeing and shopping.  We cannot wait to go to church in Ethiopia!  This is also Ty's eight month birthday!!  Hard to know that we will be so close, yet probably not able to see him on this day!

Please pray that we will not be affected by altitude sickness, or exhaustion, or dehydration, or any of the lovely things along those lines that can happen on this trip!!  Please pray that we are mindful of what we eat, so as not to bring any unwanted organisms home.  Please pray that we are able to relax and enjoy every moment!

Monday, May 30: This is the day that our itinerary with Holt will begin.  We will probably see Ty for the first time on this day and will spend a lot of the day at the care center getting to know his schedule, likes/dislikes, etc.  I think we will take custody of him on this day and he will be spending the night with us before our Embassy appointment the next day.  Can't wait to snuggle him!

Please pray that our reunion with Ty is as great as our first meeting.  Please pray that we gain as much information from his nannies as we can to make the transition as easy as possible for him.  Pray that he does suffocate from all of our hugs and kisses!!

Tuesday, May 31: Today is our Embassy appointment!!  We will take Ty with us, which should be interesting, and we will need to answer a few questions.  Should be fairly similar to the court process.

Please pray that everything is in order with the U.S. Embassy and that they have no hesitations about issuing Ty's visa.

Wednesday/Thursday/Friday, June 1, 2, 3: We don't know exactly what is going to be on our itinerary for these days.  The agency asks that we do not go out in public with our children (long story), so we will probably spend a lot of time in the hotel with the other families.  At some point, we can drop Ty off at the care center so that we can do some more shopping.  We are hoping to get most of this out of the way on Saturday and Sunday, but it is an option.

June 1st is Little Bit's preschool graduation and we are very sad to have to miss it, and June 2nd is her last day of school and Dad's & Donuts, which has broken Daddy's heart.  However, Papa is going to be a great replacement and we have some special treats in store for her in our absence.  Please pray that sadness does not ruin these special days for her and that video cameras are charged and ready to go!

Friday, June 3: Leave Addis at 7:35 p.m. for a four hour flight, arriving in Dubai at 12:45 a.m.  RUN to our next flight, which leaves Dubai at 2:15 a.m., and fly 16 hours and 30 minutes to LAX.

Please pray that at least one of us has bulk head seating on the flight from Dubai to LAX.  This is going to be my only saving grace.  There is lots more leg room, a bassinet, and I can stand up whenever I want.  This will be HUGE.  HUGE, I tell you.  This will basically be a little over 20 hours of flying with little break.  It might kill me.

Saturday, June 4: Arrive at LAX at 7:45 a.m., hopefully spend a few minutes with our besties from Huntington Beach, and fly from LAX to SAC at 11:00 a.m., arriving in SAC at 12:20 p.m. on American Airlines Flight 3075.

One of our big regrets on our first trip was not flying home to Sacramento.  We are making up for it this time and would like to invite you all to join us!!  The more the merrier!!

The girls will be spending most of their time with Daddy's folks, who have lots of fun stuff planned, as well as a long weekend with my folks (also lots of fun).  Please pray for their safety, their peace of mind, their health, and their sweet little hearts.  They are SO excited to meet their baby brother, but not so excited about mommy and daddy being gone for 10 days.  The tears have already started.

We would like you to save the evening of Saturday, July 9th so that you can join us for Ty's baptism and welcome home party at Living Water Church!!  We can't wait to bring him into God's family with all of you there to witness it!

I think that's it for now.  We will miss you all and can't wait for you to meet our son!  God bless!
