We're home!

Actually, we came home on Saturday afternoon, but things have been a little crazy around here, needless to say.

We had an AMAZING trip.  We felt great.  We developed lifelong friendships.  We learned more about our son's amazing birth country.  We cried upon leaving.  We can't wait to go back.

Our first few days home have gone really well.  Misgana Mattias (aka Ty) is eating well, sleeping well (during the day), and pooping well.  We have learned that he is lactose intolerant and will be sticking with soy vs. dairy for a while.  We had some very serious concerns about his health and development when we were reunited with him on Monday, May 30, but he has progressed beautifully in the short amount of time we have had him and we have high hopes for his future.

Misgana was the name given to him by his birth mother.  It means "thanks giving".  The meaning behind it is beautiful and something we can't take away from him, thus, it will remain his first name.  We intend to call him Ty, which is short for Mattias, which is another form of his daddy's name, which means "gift from God," but we're having a really hard time making this transition, mostly because he responds to Misgana...not Ty.  Go figure.

The jet lag is once again kicking my you-know-what.  Late mornings and the evenings are really rough.  Ty seems to have an especially tough time in the evening.  He would like to go down for the night at about 4:00 p.m., but this is obviously not ideal, thus, it becomes the witching hour around here - he's crying because we woke him up after sleeping for two hours (hoping that he will then be ready for bed at a decent hour) and my eyes are at half mast and my brain is mush.  Thank goodness for our dear friends who are bringing us dinners.  They are truly saving our sanity and they are so darn good!!!

His sisters love him, the dog is jealous of him, and we can't get enough of him.

Here are a few pics!!

Daddy's favorite past time - installing the car seat!

His fierce face!

The support we've received upon coming home with him is overwhelming.  The meals, the notes, the gifts, the welcome at the airport - more than we deserve or could ever ask for.  We are so incredibly blessed by your love, prayers, and support.  We are truly blown away.  I know I keep saying that...but it is true.  It's unbelievable.  We are so undeserving.

  3. What a handsome little guy. I know you are just lovin' those cheeks! Glad you are home and settling in. And so glad to see you will keep Ty's best interest first. Your compassion and understanding right now while he adjusts will help him so much. Enjoy your little sweetie!
